He doesn't have as much money as other challengers. His Google News alerts won't overwhelm your RSS readers. Even here, his progressive credentials and bold leadership are often overlooked.
But, those of us in campaign headquarters would have you believe a whole heck of a lot can happen between now and January. We'd also attempt to explain Senator Dodd is right on the issues you care about: Restoring Habeas Corpus, a Corporate Carbon Tax, and more. In short, we'd tell you he is the best man for the job.
But whether you know it or not, his impact continues to be felt in the Democratic Presidential Primary and on the issue all of us care so deeply about: Iraq.
The Nation's John Nichols wrote a great piece today about the impact the campaign has had so far this cycle.
It is a very good thing, indeed, that Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd is seeking the Democratic nomination for the presidency.Dodd is far from a frontrunner. But he is a candidate with stature and a decent campaign treasury, and he is willing to use both those assets to pressure the top-tier contenders, New York Senator Hillary Clinton and Illinois Senator Barack Obama, to do the right thing.
That's what happened this week when Dodd, who has worked hard to position himself as an anti-war contender, purchased television ads in early caucus and primary states to trumpet his support for Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold's plan to begin withdrawing U.S. troops from in 120 days. [...]
But the Senate Democrats who would be president have, as a group, take an anti-war stand that is far more in keeping with the sentiments of the American people than most of official Washington yet understands.
That's good for the party and good for the country. And it is unlikely this would have happened without the timely intervention of the candidate is moving the Democratic race in the right direction: Chris Dodd.
The entire piece is a very short read, and I hope you follow the link.
But also, I hope today, at 1 PM, you'll give Senator Dodd a chance to tug at your ear during his townhall meeting about Iraq in Des Moines, Iowa.
The campaign will stream the event live at the campaign website, and you can even watch on your computer from right here inside this MyDd diary.
I hope you will.
And I hope you'll recommend this diary so others can share as well.
You and I have been through a lot of wars together, online. Down in Batavia for Paul Hackett vs. Jean Schmidt. Connecticut for Lamont/Lieberman. And now I'm proud to work for Senator Dodd's Presidential campaign.
There's plenty of time, and I hope you'll give him a chance.
Starting today.
